just got back to my hall room after the sundown swimathon. 9 hours of gruelling swim in the cold SRC pool water. ok, it's not as bad as it sounds. 5 of us in a team swimming for 9 hours. there was free flow of coffee and hot water provided by the sponsors of the event.
at the start, my team wanted to do 1 hour swims each, so we could maximise our sleeping time. but after much consideration and checking out the competition, we decided to try 10 lap intervals. bekky was at her friend's bday party, so it was just me, marcus, lance and sikuan doing 10 lap intervals for the 1st 2 hours until our dear miss bekky decided to show up. of course we made her pay for being late. straight away ask her go down swim 30 laps then come up. hahaha. after that we carried on with the 10 lap intervals till around 3. by then the 1st few teams were far ahead of us in terms of laps, and we saw no chance of ever getting top 3. so we decided to just take things easy.
lance had to leave early, so he suggested swimming 45 min intervals, then he will leave after that. so things went on all the way until 5, when bekky frightened me by having uncontrolled shivering. she kept complaining of feeling cold even after giving her 2 jackets. got some hot water for her to hold and pour on her legs. after taking over sikuan, she went crazy. it seemed like she wasn't cold in the first place at all. i think all she needed is to swim, then her body would get warmed up. n once she started swimming, she couldn't be stopped!!!
the last 50 mins or so was spent with marcus and bekky doing 2 lap intervals. it was fun, but i could feel the fatigue in my arms and legs. my left thigh felt like cramping, while my right deltoids were aching. at the end of the 9 hours, i felt a sense of achievement. it felt like finishing a marathon, just that it was a water version. 9 hours in the cold, 9 hours of talking cock, 9 hours of no sleep, 9 hours of 10 laps. oh well, time for me to sleep now!!!
