Ruler of the world

Every teen enters the working world thinking they can make a change, a difference. All of them have lofty ambitions like making X amount of dollars per month within Y years, or making manager within a set number of years. You work hard, trying to make everyone see your point of view, trying to prove yourself. Then reality sets in. Nobody listens, things don't go your way, you feel unappreciated, the pay doesn't come with your effort. Yes, you are capable and efficient but sorry, you are not experienced enough for that promotion. What next?

Do you give in to the realities of this world? Do you admit defeat and conform to the norm? Do you throw in the towel and choose the easy way out? Do you constantly switch jobs to achieve that 20% - 25% pay increment?

I choose none of the above. My bank balance is ridiculously low by my standards, but I refuse to conform. I refuse to go with the flow and stop challenging the norms. It's a new financial year, may my fighting spirit take me through another fruitful and eventful year.
